Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits Liverpool shellacking is his ‘darkest day’ as Manchester United boss but insists he won’t give up as calls for sacking grow

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has labelled Manchester United's 5-0 shellacking at home to Liverpool as the 'darkest day' in his Old Trafford premiership.
The Norwegian watched his side get torn to shreds with Naby Keita, Diogo Jota and a Mohamed Salah hat-trick seeing Liverpool seal the extraordinary win.
Liverpool raced to a 4-0 lead at half-time and Solskjaer admitted that was the moment it became damage limitation for his team.
When asked when he decided to shut-up-shop Solskjaer told Sky Sports: "4-0.
"It's the one where going into half time where having to score more than one every 15 minutes…"
He continued: "It's the darkest day I've had leading these players.
"We weren't good enough - individually, as a team. You can't give a team like Liverpool those chances and unfortunately we did.
"The whole performance wasn't good enough. We've created openings, they've had chances and been clinical and we didn't take our chances early on and the third goal is the one that obviously decided the game."
The result will only lead to further questions about Solskjaer's future at the club, with a number of fans calling for him to go in the wake of the humiliation.
However, Solskjaer said he won't be leaving of his own accord, insisting he will never give up on the project he has at Man United.
When asked about whether he has doubts about his ability to take the club forward, Solskjaer responded: "No, I've come too far.
"We've come too far as a group. We're too close to giving up now."
