Transfer news: Aston Villa on verge of signing former Manchester United youngster Pierluigi Gollini in £5m deal

Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of former Manchester United youngster Pierluigi Gollini, who has also been tracked by Everton.

Villa have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old goalkeeper, who spent time at United's youth academy before moving back to Italy to join Hellas Verona in 2014.

He has since made 29 Serie A appearances, attracting the interest of both Villa and Everton.

And now, according to Tuttomercatoweb, Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is close to finalising a £5m deal for his compatriot.

It has been reported that has already flown to England for talks and the switch could be completed shortly.
