Frank Lampard would be interested in taking over at Aston Villa, according to the Chelsea legend's uncle Harry Redknapp.

After a host of Premier League sackings, Lampard has emerged as the favourite to replace Daniel Farke at Norwich.

Meanwhile, Rangers boss Gerrard is thought to be the No 1 target for Villa as they look to replace Dean Smith over the international break.

However, when asked about his nephew's next job, Redknapp suggested Lampard would be keen on Villa Park.

"The Aston Villa job, for sure, is one that would interest him," Redknapp told the talkSPORT Breakfast show.

Former Premier League boss Redknapp was disappointed to see Smith lose his job after a run of five consecutive defeats.

The lifelong Villa fan guided the club back to the Premier League and secured an 11th-place finish last season, before losing star man Jack Grealish to Manchester City over the summer.

"It's been a funny old time," Redknapp added. "Dean Smith getting the sack at Villa, I was disappointed to see that one.

"He did a great job there, real Villa man, loves the club. A bit like Chris Wilder when he left Sheffield United.

"I think it's been difficult. Grealish went, how do you replace him? They were almost a one-man team when I saw them last year, he was so good.

"The people who have come in haven't hit the ground running and I think he [Smith] needed more time.

"But the job is up for grabs and there will be plenty of people interested. Villa is a great club.

"Norwich is also a smashing club run by good people. So they're two good jobs for somebody."
