Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains on the brink at Manchester United and many have touted Zinedine Zidane for the Old Trafford hot-seat if the Norwegian is sacked.

say that, after a series of poor results and performances, Solksjaer’s job is under threat and options are being explored.

Zidane has a seriously impressive CV despite his short time in management.

The Frenchman became the first coach in history to win three consecutive Champions League titles when he steered his former club Real Madrid to the top European trophy from 2015-2018.

He left the Spanish giants having won 11 trophies across two spells as head coach and Red Devils fans are licking their lips at the prospect of the France icon taking charge.

Heavy defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City have piled the pressure on the Solskjaer, who has failed to win silverware during his near-three years in charge at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian is failing to get the best out of United's star-studded squad despite spending huge money throughout his tenure.

If Solskjaer is dismissed and Zidane is brought in, he will want to bring some top players to help transform the squad.

But who could Zizou target? marvelbet369.com has identified five players United may target in January if Solskjaer is relieved of his duties and Zidane joins the club.

Jules Kounde (Sevilla)

A move to Chelsea fell through in the summer due to a breakdown in negotiations, but the centre-back has been linked with United in light of injury to Raphael Varane and the questionable form of back-ups Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.

Lindelof and Bailly can be brilliant on their day but are also prone to simple mistakes, as demonstrated by the latter's own goal in the 2-0 defeat to Man City at Old Trafford last time out.

Kounde would be a superb signing for United and one that Zidane would love given they're both from France.

The centre-back, who won the UEFA Nations League with Les Bleus in October, is seen as one of the brightest young talents in European football, having become known for his calmness on the ball and assertiveness at the back, despite lacking in height.

Chelsea wanted the centre-back but were not prepared to pay his £68m buyout clause and United could now capitalise on their failure to capture the player.

Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid)

The Red Devils have long had their eyes on Kieran Trippier as a potential back-up to Aaron Wan-Bissaka but Carvajal could be an even better fit.

Wan-Bissaka has immense defensive qualities but question marks remain over his capabilities in attack.

Carvajal is still under contract for another four seasons and the 29-year-old may prove to be too expensive but he could be a great option to turn to as he proved to be a great player for Zidane during his two spells in the Spanish capital.

Declan Rice (West Ham)

The England midfielder has been majestic for David Moyes’ men and in the absence of regular captain Mark Noble has been wearing the armband in every game this season.

He has long been linked with a switch to both his former club Chelsea and Man United, but he'll cost a pretty penny.

In light of his brilliant displays, West Ham will likely demand more than £100m for the player.

However, if signed, he would solve United's problems in central midfield for many years to come.

Toni Kroos (Real Madrid)

If Rice joins and Zidane could persuade Kroos to come to Old Trafford as well, United would boast arguably the best midfield in Europe.

The German would complement Rice brilliantly and Zidane could deploy both at the heart of his midfield, with Bruno Fernandes or Paul Pogba both available to be used in their favoured attacking midfield role.

As far as decorated players go, Kroos is right up their.

He has won thirteen trophies, including two La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League three times, which he won consecutively from 2016 and 2018, each time being selected in the competition's team of the season.

Nevertheless, United will be wary about signing ageing German midfielders in light of Bastian Schweinsteiger's unsuccessful time at the club.

He joined when Louis van Gaal was in charge but, at 32, he failed to make a mark in his two years at the club.

At 31 years of age, Kroos is no spring chicken but there's no doubting the quality he still has.

Antony (Ajax)

The Red Devils already have incredible strength in depth - particularly in attack - but if they want to steal a march on their rivals a deal for Ajax star Antony could be a great piece of business

The 21-year-old, who predominantly plays on the right flank, is one of the most eye-catching talents currently emerging in Europe.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich are believed to be interested in signing him next summer and he is said to be valued at around £40m.

The Brazilian could be the next superstar to come out of the Selecao's ranks and may well be ready-made for the Premier League, having hit three goals and added two assists in nine Eredivisie matches this season.
