Known by many back home as the godfather of modern German football, it’s not just gegenpressing where incoming new Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick revolutionised the game, it’s also in the transfer market.

The legendary German coach has had spells all across his native country, transforming the way teams are run in order to take them to the top of the game.

Rangnick now looks set to bring those talents over to England, with United ready to appoint the 63-year-old on a six-month interim coaching contract, before moving him upstairs in a consultancy role.

It could be a masterstroke for the struggling Premier League giants, with the German set to bring his tactical and transfer expertise to Old Trafford and could pave the way for some stunning signings.

Handing Rangnick the reins in a technical position has proved a genius move for the likes of Hoffenheim and Leipzig, taking newly-established minnows to the Champions League in record time.

A huge part of Rangnick finding an edge on his rivals has been a global scouting network that has procured some of the world’s very best players, of which United may be about to enjoy the benefits

After years of hopping around lower-league German sides, Rangnick finally found a home with autonomy in 2006 when village club Hoffenheim decided to let him run the ship.

Clearly impressed by Rangnick’s astonishing turnaround at a relative unknown, Red Bull decided he was the man to kickstart their revolution, and boy did he manage that.

Becoming a director at both Austrian side Salzburg and German outfit Leipzig, Rangnick helped lift both clubs to extraordinary new heights through a combination of coaching and scouting, beginning at Salzburg in 2012.

A number of those names made the trip over the border to work under Rangnick as a coach at Leipzig, including the likes of Sabitzer and Upamecano, while the potential new United boss also landed some familiar faces including Daka and Hwang, now starring in the Premier League with Leicester and Wolves, and Adeyemi who is tearing up the Australian league and has been linked with a move to the English top flight.

United need a midfielder, Rangnick signed Sabitzer twice, and he's currently struggling at Bayern Munich, this one seems a no-brainer
