Bellamy completes Cardiff loan move

Manchester City have confirmed that Craig Bellamy has joined hometown club Cardiff on loan for the rest of the season.

A host of clubs had been tracking the forward, who was told by Roberto Mancini that he would not be part of big-spending City’s 25-man squad this season.

Tottenham, Fulham, Sunderland and Celtic had all expressed an interest in signing the Wales international, but the Bluebirds have managed to convince the 31-year-old to drop down to the Championship.

Bellamy has previously spoken of his desire to return to the Welsh capital, where his wife and two children live. He is likely to go straight into the Cardiff starting line-up to face Doncaster on Saturday.

"Manchester City can confirm that Craig Bellamy has agreed to join Championship club Cardiff City on a season-long loan," read a statement on the club's website.

"He will be officially unveiled in South Wales later today, and subject to Premier League and Football League ratification will join up with Dave Jones' side in time to make his debut at home to Doncaster Rovers at the weekend."
