Crystal Palace in talks to to land former Man United trialist

Crystal Palace are trying to sign former Manchester United trialist Even Hovland but his club are playing hardball over the fee.

Central defender Hovland had two trials at United, in 2009 and 2010, but they stopped short of offering him terms.

The Sogndal youngster is keen to leave Norway and test himself in a more competitive league but has become frustrated at his club's reluctance to sell.

Palace have had two bids turned down for Hovland, with Sogndal eager to do business at around £1m - a price Dougie Freedman is unwilling to pay.
