West Ham defender set for Celtic move

Celtic are leading the chase to sign West Ham defender Herita Ilunga.

The Congolese defender, 29, has struggled to command a regular first-team place at Upton Park and does not appear to be in Sam Allardyce's plans following the recent arrival of George McCartney from Sunderland.

Ilunga is determined to get his career back on track and has been attracting interest from Celtic, who are keen to bolster their defence.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is hoping to finalise a deal in the next few hours and could even agree a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.
