Brighton complete signing of Spanish star Vicente

Brighton have pulled off a massive coup by confirming the signing of Spanish star Vicente from Valencia.

The Championship new boys have signed the midfielder on a one-year deal after he officially put pen to paper on his contract at the AMEX Stadium on Friday.

Vicente, 30, has been capped 38 times by Spain and rejected more lucrative offers elsewhere to join Gus Poyet's men.

Talks were concluded on Thursday night and Poyet said: "Vicente is the special player we wanted. He has great qualities in terms of his ability and flexibility to play in a range of different positions, so plenty of quality.

"He also brings a great experience having played at the top level for the last ten years with Valencia, including the Champions League, Uefa Cup and international football with Spain."
