Millwall close in on Swindon star

Millwall have tabled an improved bid for Swindon hot-shot Charlie Austin.

The Lions made a tentative offer for the 21-year-old on Monday, but Swindon insisted their star player is not for sale.

But Millwall are desperate to force through a deal before the transfer window shuts and hope a bid of around £800,000 plus add-ons will be enough to land the striker.

Austin, who was a bricklayer this time 12 months ago, joined Swindon from non-League Poole Town in October. And he hit 20 goals in 32 starts for the Robins in their League One promotion bid.

Ironically, it was Millwall who beat Swindon in the Play-Off final at Wembley in May to secure a spot in the Championship.
