Poyet prepared to quit Brighton if he is told to change his tactics

Brighton boss Gus Poyet has revealed that he will walk out on the club if he is forced to alter his style of football.

The Seagulls started the season among the favourites for promotion and initially lived up to those expectations with five wins and a draw in their opening six Championship games.

But Brighton are now without a win since September 10, have scored just three goals in their last seven games and were beaten 1-0 by Watford on Tuesday without even managing a shot on target.

But manager Poyet, who was named League One manager of the Year last season after steering his side to the title, insists he will not change his tactics - even if it costs him his job.

"If I need to change the way we play, I'll go home. We are going to play the way I want," he said.

"Either we get back to our best or we're going to have to change the players. I'm not going to change, that's for sure.

"I should be under pressure shouldn't I? It's now eight or nine games without a win. But I don't feel under pressure. I think my chairman would agree because it's clear that I'm not going to change.

"If he wants a change he knows what to do."
