Burley backs Palace to win relegation scrap

Crystal Palace boss George Burley admits he always knew this was going to be a tough season for his side.

But the Selhurst Park manager is still confident that his youngsters can drag the club away from a relegation scrap.

Burley took charge in the summer after the club was saved from financial ruin by the CPFC 2010 consortium.

And despite taking 11 points from their opening 12 games Burley is predicting brighter times ahead.

"We knew from the start of the season that this was not going to be an easy one when we're trying to rebuild the squad," he said ahead of Saturday's clash with Preston at Deepdale.

"We'll be positive all the way and try to get a run together.

"But you don't expect to win games or put a run together - you have to earn the right to push up the table.

"You want win your next game so we're not thinking any further than that.”
