Exclusive – Jones: ‘Cardiff are not a one man show’
Cardiff boss Dave Jones insists his team is not all about Craig Bellamy.
The Bluebirds pulled off the transfer coup of the summer when they signed the Manchester City forward on loan and the striker has helped them to joint top of the Championship.
But Jones insists there's more to his side than just the pacy Welsh ace.
He told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: "People might be thinking we’re a one man show but we’re far from that. But Bellamy gives us that little bit that some teams in this division don’t have.
"He's infectious and other players around him have stepped up to the mark as well, which is good."
Cardiff have clawed their way back onto terms with Rangers at the top of the table following Monday night's emphatic 4-0 win at Leeds, and Jones insists he's happy to lead from the front.
He added: "We were a bit angry with ourselves that we’d let them get away from us and for the past month we’ve been chasing them down.
"It’s a nice position to be in. I always think it’s better to be chased than to be doing the chasing."
Jones will now be hoping his side can maintain that form up until Christmas as he plots a promotion bid, and possibly the chance to move into the transfer market.
"We’ve not bought a player for 18 months," he continued. "We’ve used the loan system, and brought in frees, and we’ve had to do that.
"It's good in one way but people think you can pull rabbits out of the hat every time."
