Middlesbrough and Cardiff keen on West Brom defender

Middlesbrough and Cardiff are both keen on signing West Brom defender Abdoulaye Meite on a free transfer.

Meite has not played a single minute of Premier League football this season and has been told he can leave the club.

The Ivory Coast international, 30, is in talks with Baggies bosses to end his two-and-a-half year stay at the club early, allowing him to move to the Championship for free.

And Middlesbrough are keen on speaking to him about a move to the Riverside, although talkSPORT understands the club have competition from Cardiff.
