Crawley turned down big Bournemouth bid for star striker

Crawley Town turned down a £200,000 bid from League One Bournemouth on transfer deadline day for striker Matt Tubbs.

The League Two new boys are currently top of the table after running away with the conference title last season, with Tubbs hitting 40 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions.

Tubbs, 27, has continued that amazing form with five goals in eight games this term, the most recent in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Bristol Rovers, and that has attracted the attention of Lee Bradbury.

But Crawley manager Steve Evans has rebuffed any outside interest in the former Salisbury City man, who was also being monitored by Reading last season.
