David Luiz, Ramires, Lucas and Robinho: 10 Brazilian hits and misses!

Chelsea's two Brazilians, David Luiz and Ramires have been on fire recently, so we thought we'd look at the Samba boys that succeeded and those that flopped.
Robinho
One of many South Americans that just couldn't handle the pace of the Premier League and the little Brazilian would whinge about how unhappy he was at Man City to anyone that would listen. At ?32m he was a British transfer record but was often labelled work-shy, selfish and lazy. To many it was a When he was offloaded to Milan.
Verdict: Miss
Juninho
Dubbed 'The little fella' by Boro fans after starring for them in his first spell at the club where he helped them reach the FA and League Cup finals in 1997. Unfortunately the club were relegated and he moved on but had a further two spells at the Riverside where he scored twice in four minutes against Man United in a 3-2 Old Trafford win, while he also won the 2004 League Cup.
Verdict: Hit
Kleberson
After Fergie flogged Veron to Chelsea, the Brazilian was signed as a replacement in 2003 following his appearance in the World Cup a year earlier. However, in two years the midfielder made only 30 appearances for United before being sold on to Turkish side Besiktas.
Verdict: Miss
Gilberto Silva
Capped over 90 times by Brazil, he bossed the Arsenal midfield between 2002 and 2008. During his time in north London he helped them to a Premier League title and two FA Cups while he also served as the Gunners vice captain.
Verdict: Hit
Miradinha
The first Brazilian to play on these shores, he's remembered by most as an expensive mistake on the part of Newcastle. Costing ?575,000 in 1987, he was noted for his selfishness, a string of injuries and even once kung-fu kicked 'keeper Dave Beasant. Magpies fans, though, had this rather catchy chant for him: 'We’ve got Mirandinha, he’s not from Argentina, he’s from Brazil and he’s f**king brill.'
Verdict: Miss
Lucas
Admittedly it was always going to be tough when it's the masterful Xabi Alonso you're expected to take over from. Thankfully for Liverpool fans, nicknames like "the only Brazilian who can't play football" and “Lord Lucas” - for his habit of disappearing for 90 minutes every weekend seem to be a thing of the past and has impressed this season.
Verdict: Hit
Branco
His boss at 'Boro, Bryan Robson claimed in 1996: “I expect Branco to continue at the top level for another three or four years.” Although the USA '94 free-kick specialist turned up on Teeside looking worryingly fat and painfully slow. He lasted nine games.
Verdict: Miss
Sandro
Granted, the 22-year-old has not been here that long since his £6.5m move to Tottenham from Internacional in the summer but considering it takes South Americans a bit longer to settle over here, his displays so far have been excellent. His endeavours in the Champions League against AC Milan even led to reports that the Italian club was preparing to swoop for the midfielder.
Verdict: Hit
Alfonso Alves
The striker left Middlesbrough fans scratching their heads when he was without a goal in eight games following his £12m move from Heerenveen in January 2008. And with a record that reads 45 goals in 39 games for his previous club, you can understand why. In the 2008/09 season he managed a measly seven goals in 35 games and now plies his trade among the riches of the middle east.
Verdict: Miss
Gilberto
Signed by Juande Ramos in the January transfer window in 2008, he managed just one season before Harry Redknapp got rid of him. In his debut against PSV in the UEFA Cup, his error gifted Jefferson Farfan a goal as Tottenham crashed out of the competition, while his continued mistakes means that the full back is quite possibly one of the worst players to ever pull on a Spurs shirt.
Verdict: Miss
