Sturridge, Klinsmann, Larsson, Beckham and the 10 best loan signings ever!

Bolton boss Owen Coyle is rightly praying that Fernando Torres finds form at Chelsea in order to keep hold of striker Daniel Sturridge a bit longer. The on-loan striker has scored seven times in eight Premier League games making him one of football's top loan signings just like these chaps...

JURGEN KLINSMANN (TOTTENHAM: 1997/98)
Having been hugely successful in his first spell in 1994/95, the club called on the German striker's services once more two years. Borrowing him from Sampdoria in Italy, Klinsmann scored nine goals in 15 games, helping Tottenham avoid relegation.
Jermain Defoe (Bournemouth: 2000/01)
The then 18-year-old striker scored 18 goals in 27 games, including 10 in consecutive matches, for Bournemouth on loan from West Ham. The young striker spent almost an entire season at Dean Court and has now gone on to become an England regular.
KEVIN CAMPBELL (EVERTON: 1999)
The Toffees snapped up the striker from Trabzonspor in March in 1999 in a bid to avoid relegation, which he helped them do, scoring nine times in eight games. He was even awarded the player of the month award for April and later that summer, the deal was made permanent.
DAVID BECKHAM (AC MILAN: 2009)
So successful was his time in Italy between January and March, that Milan attempted to keep the 35-year-old at the San Siro permanently, while Becks was keen on the idea ahead of the 2010 World Cup. It didn't happen and the midfielder went back to LA Galaxy, although he returned to Italy when the MLS season ended in 2010.
IVAN CAMPO (BOLTON: 2002/03)
Sam Allardyce secured the defender's signature on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid. His career at the Reebok got off to a flyer against Spurs with a fabulous 43-yard drive and at the end of the season, he signed a permanent deal with Bolton and remained there until 2008.
JIMMY GLASS (CARLISLE: 1999)
Without a doubt this is our favourite loan signing. The goalkeeper became an instant hero on the last day of the 1998/99 season where Carlisle looked to be heading for relegation from the Football League as they found themselves drawing with Plymouth deep in stoppage time. That was until on-loan Glass popped and and fired home from a corner. Cue pandemonium.
Kyle Walker (QPR AND ASTON Villa: 2010 & 2011)
Along with Danny Sturridge, the most recent player to prove to be a loan revelation is the young Tottenham right back. He quickly became popular during his spell at QPR with a string of magnificent displays and recently joined Aston Villa on loan where he scored his first Premier League goal – a 30-yard screamer against Fulham. His performances have even earned a call-up to the full England squad.
HENRIK LARSSON (MAN UNITED: 2007)
Having terrified opposition goalkeepers wherever he went, the Swedish superstar joined Alex Ferguson's side from Helsingborg between January and March. He scored on his debut against Aston Villa in the 2-1 FA Cup win, then in the 1-0 Champions League triumph over Lille and in a 4-0 Premier League thrashing of Watford. He was even given special dispensation to claim a League winners medal after he left.
CHRISTOPHE DUGARRY (BIRMINGHAM CITY: 2002)
In 2002, Bordeaux agreed to loan him to Birmingham, who were struggling in their first Premier League season. The France World Cup winner bagged five in 15 games, contributing to the club cementing their status in the league.
Robbie Keane (CELTIC: 2010)
Between February and June, Keano notched up 12 goals in 15 league games when Tottenham loaned him to the Glasgow club, while he was also awarded the fans player of the year. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to be recreate the magic at West Ham where he is currently on loan.
