Six of the worst Liverpool teams – how does Dalglish’s 2012 team compare?

Liverpool's woeful 2-1 defeat to bottom of the table Wigan at Anfield followed an embarrasing capitulation against another set of relegation strugglers, QPR, that saw King Kenny's men concede three goals in the final 13 minutes.

Dalglish's 2011/12 Reds have managed only five victories in 15 home games in the Premier League this season; one less than promoted sides Norwich and Swansea, who both came away from Anfield with a point.

On the plus side, this Liverpool vintage have lifted the League Cup and are in the FA Cup last four, but serious questions are being asked as to why the Reds have fallen away so badly in the Premier League and could potentially finish in their lowest position in the top flight since being relegated in 1954.

Dalglish has also been criticised for claiming Liverpool's league position "will be overlooked" in years to come thanks to February's Carling Cup victory over Championship play-off hopefuls Cardiff.

Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton have all picked up more Premier League points than the Reds so far in 2012, leading to suggestions this Liverpool team are about as good - or should that be bad - as this awful lot...
