West Ham chief wants more signings

Avram Grant insists he is still active in the transfer market but will only consider permanent moves for players and not loan deals.

The West Ham manager has signed Thomas Hitzlsperger, Tal Ben Haim, Frederic Piquionne, Pablo Barrera and Winston Reid this summer and is keen to strengthen his squad further.

Grant remains interested in Bolton's Matt Taylor and Portsmouth's Marc Wilson but he is adamant any player that arrives at Upton Park will be there for the long haul.

"I hope we will be busy because we want the squad to be stronger, we came into the new season with new players we need more," Grant said.

"There are a few positions we don't have covered so we will try to do it. But the financial situation is not so good but we need to think about this also.

"We won't take any player on loan with an option to buy - we don't want to think just about this year so we don't want to take players only for loan."

Grant has confirmed to talkSPORT that 90 per cent of the squad will stay together - including Matthew Upson, Carlton Cole and Scott Parker - but he has refused to rule out a move for Valon Behrami, who is wanted by Roma.
