talkSPORT Exclusive – Warnock: ‘I want to be England boss’

Neil Warnock has told talkSPORT that he wants to replace Fabio Capello as England manager.

The Italian will see out the final two years of his contract, despite his side's poor showing at the World Cup, but the FA have said they will then be looking for an Englishman to take the reins.

And Warnock thinks he could be that man.

The QPR boss told the Sports Breakfast: “It’s given me a challenge. If they’ve given him two more years it gives me a chance. I need to get QPR promoted, then get into Europe and then I’ve got a chance because there will be no English managers around.”

Warnock also slammed the ill-fated “Capello Index” and warned that the Italian could lose the trust of his players.

“I thinks it's sad," he added. "They’ve got the marks from somewhere, they haven’t invented them, have they?”

“It’s disappointing, because once the trust goes and players blame everyone but themselves, it doesn’t take much to give them an excuse. And that’s a massive one.”
