Japan World Cup star wants Premier League move

Japan sensation Keisuke Honda has rejected a move to Galatasaray in order to keep alive his dream of a transfer to a Premier League side in January.

The CSKA Moscow playmaker, who starred at the World Cup, has been tracked by a number of clubs across Europe, including AC Milan, Arsenal and Valencia.

Honda has been described as "a genius" by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and was hoping to secure a move to one of the big European leagues this summer.

The 24-year-old is valued at £12m by his Russian club - a transfer fee only Turkish side Galatasaray have shown a willingness to meet.

Honda only joined CSKA in January this year from Dutch side VVV-Venlo and his agent Kees Ploegsma says the attacking midfielder will not be moving this summer.

"Honda will be staying in Russia until at least January," said Ploegsma. "When a big club comes in he will want to leave but at the moment that has not happened.

"There were opportunities to move but he has not had the offer from a top club, which is what we want.

"A lot of managers will be watching him after he played so well at the World Cup - now they can watch him more for CSKA and hopefully they will decide to try and do something in January."
