Manchester United are ready to flex their financial muscles in the transfer market after all. It's been largely all quiet at Old Trafford this summer, but the club is now preparing a £10m-plus bid for Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell. Fergie is also willing to allow Michael Carrick go to Goodison Park as part of the deal. (The Sun)
Tottenham are planning a late £15m bid for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young and they are willing to offer the likes of Robbie Keane, Jermaine Jenas and Alan Hutton to the Midlanders to force the move through.(Daily Express)
But Stoke are hoping to steal a march in the race for Jenas, and they are ready to pay £7m for the former Nottingham Forest man. (Daily Mirror)
The Potters are also plotting a loan more for Monaco strike star Eidur Gudjohnsen. (Daily Mail)
