Spurs snubbed by AC Milan ace AND Sevilla star

Tottenham target Luis Fabiano has signed a new contract at Sevilla - and the White Hart Lane club now also fear they will miss out on Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Harry Redknapp has been chasing a top class striker all summer and was hopeful of landing Brazil star Fabiano following Spurs’ qualification for the Champions League group stages last week.

The Sevilla striker made it clear to the Londoners that he would be interested in a move to White Hart Lane, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refused to pay the £25m asking price.

Redknapp admitted last week Fabiano was a player he wanted to bring to the club, but Tottenham were not willing to pay any more than £18m for the 29-year-old.

And it has now been revealed in Spain that the front man has agreed a two-year extension to his current deal, which had 12 months to run, to stay in La Liga.

Meanwhile, as talkSPORT exclusively revealed last Wednesday, Spurs were confident they had a deal in principal to loan Dutch striker Huntelaar from AC Milan with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season worth around £12m.

The 27-year-old goalscorer is surplus to requirements at the San Siro following the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Barcelona.

But ambitious German side Schalke 04 made a move for the former Ajax and Real Madrid man over the weekend, leaving Redknapp anxious.

Spurs will make a push for Huntelaar on Monday and hope they will convince the Holland international to fly to England on Tuesday morning - although they fear the player is now leaning towards joining Schalke.

Schalke have made a bid worth around £12.5m to buy Huntelaar outright, while at the moment Spurs are only proposing an initial loan deal as Redknapp does not want five strikers on his books.

Levy has been reluctant to buy a forward until one of the four current strikers - Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Robbie Keane - has left the club.

Keane is the only one of the quartet who could leave before the transfer deadline on Tuesday, with Newcastle and Celtic leading the race to sign the Ireland captain on loan. Insiders at White Hart Lane say the club have not received a single offer over the summer from a team looking to buy Keane on a permanent basis.
