Arsenal to battle Chelsea for Spanish World Cup ace

Arsenal have joined the race for Sevilla winger Jesus Navas, according to reports in Spain.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be a long-term admirer of the Spanish international. But Spanish newspaper AS claims Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is now weighing up a move for the rapid winger.

The 24-year-old World Cup winner is rated at £16.5m and has stalled over extending he contract at Sevilla, which expires in 2012.

Sevilla are understood to hbe appier to sell Navas to an English side rather than La Liga rivals Barcelona or Real Madrid.
