Wenger: Fabregas is going nowhere

Arsene Wenger insists Cesc Fabregas will not be leaving Arsenal for Barcelona this summer despite continued reports to the contrary.

The Gunners have had to contend with constant speculation linking their 23-year-old captain with a big-money move to the Nou Camp since the end of the Premier League season.

Barca star Xavi also claimed last week that Fabregas had told his Spain team-mates during the World Cup that he wanted to return home.

But Wenger has sought to finally draw a line under the long-running transfer saga by stating Fabregas is not for sale at any price.

“There are still noises from Barcelona, but that is all it is. In our job we have to deal with what we can master. What we cannot influence is not to worry about," Wenger told the club's official website.

“I am very happy with Cesc and we are all very happy at the club with Cesc. He is a very important player for us, he is our captain and we have worked very hard (for him) to be the future of our team and that is why we are always adamant about (not) letting him go.”
