West Ham set to battle Everton for Cagliari star Alessandro Matri

West Ham and Everton both want to snap up Cagliari contract rebel Alessandro Matri in the summer.

The former AC Milan striker has scored eight goals in 14 Serie A games so far this season, but decided not to extend his current deal beyond June.

That has alerted West Ham and Everton who are two of the Premier League's lowest scorers this season.

According to reports in Italy, both clubs have sent scouts to watch the striker whose power and strength could make him a perfect fit for English football.

But Matri is also wanted in Spain with La Liga sides Atletico Madrid and Villarreal also currently tracking his progress.
