Harewood’s move to Blackpool in doubt

Marlon Harewood's proposed move to Blackpool has hit a snag over his wage demands.

The former West Ham and Aston Villa striker - now a free agent - has been in talks over a move to Bloomfield Road.

Ian Holloway is desperate for players ahead of the new season as his squad, currently standing at just 16 players, is worryingly thin for Premier League football.

Harewood, 30, is wanted by Holloway, who plans to link the striker up with Francis Jeffers, who remains a target following his trial.

The Blackpool manager is hopeful he can agree a deal with Harewood but wants him to lower his wage request before completing a deal.

Holloway admits he hopes he can sort a deal out soon because he fears his side will struggle without the extra bodies.

"At the moment we are 20 million miles away from being able to compete in the Premier League," he said.

"If we have to start the season with this team I may as well pack up and go home because we are not going to be ready."
