Footage shows Sergio Garcia fuming at officials after unwanted ruling during Final Open qualifying

Liv Golf player Sergio Garcia appeared to take his anger out at officials at Final Open qualifying after being given a slow play warning.

The Spaniard’s bid to seal one of four places at the Open Championship got off to a rocky start at West Lancashire in Liverpool.

After missing a short putt on the 7th hole, the 44-year-old was given an official warning.

That was for falling four minutes adrift of his expected time, with the gap to the group in front widening.

In footage posted on X, Garcia is seen walking along with his head down.

He also appeared to be absolutely furious with the ruling.

“You’re right, we’re always wrong,” he was alleged to have said to the officials.

Sam Bairstow and Alex Maguire were also given a pace of play warning.

Garcia missed out on The Open last season for the first time since 1997.

LIV Golf events do not receive Official World Golf Ranking points, forcing ineligible players like Garcia to enter qualifying alongside club professionals and other unknown golfers.

The 2017 Masters champion delivered a public outburst at PGA Tour officials shortly before moving to LIV Golf, when he was warned over looking for a lost ball beyond the permitted three minutes.

Garcia is Europe's highest point-scorer in Ryder Cup history but the fiery Spaniard has burned bridges with some teammates, most notably Rory McIlroy, over his move to LIV Golf.

The nature of his departure was particularly bitter after a widely-reported dressing room rant at DP World Tour players. telling them: 'You're all f***ed'.
