Doctor intervenes as Jack Shore suffers horrific ‘bullet hole’ injury in TKO loss at UFC 301

Jack Shore has suffered the second loss of his professional career.

‘Tank’ travelled across the world to take on hometown favourite Joanderson Brito at the Farmasi Arena, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday night.

However, he never got into the fight and lost by TKO in round two.

Brito hammered away with leg kicks from the opening bell and they paid dividends as a massive cut on his opponent’s shin.

Shore appeared to be moving well, but the referee opted to bring the action to a halt to get a cageside doctor to assess the damage in round two.

UFC cameras zoomed in on the injury as commentator Jon Anik compared it to a ‘bullet hole’ and his broadcaster partners Daniel Cormier and Paul Felder predicted the fight would be called off.

The Welsh star looked gutted when their premonitions came true, and the doctor deemed him in no fit state to continue scrapping with Brito.

It was later confirmed that the doctor feared Shore's leg was broken.

Fans had mixed opinions about how serious Shore’s injury was.

One person tweeted: “That’s not a cut that’s a bullet wound.”

Another commented: “Those leg kicks were crazy. Brito looked great.”

A third person added: “This sport has gone soft.”

Someone else said: “That was a bulls*** stoppage.”

Shore's father agreed with the latter's opinion after sharing his frustration at the cage-side doctor's opinion to stop the fight.

Sharing a picture of his son in hospital, Richard Shore wrote on Instagram: "Well what can we say. Ref stops the fight for Doctors opinion on a cut shin. Doctor stops the fight.

"I kick off and say it's a cut on the shin we can continue. Jack asks to continue. The cutsman says to the Doctor he can work the cut and stop the bleeding.

"Doctor says it's fractured? Fight over. We get taken to hospital. Have an Xray and no fracture. Couple of stitches and sent us home. Let fighters fight.

"We were chasing the fight but still comfortable and confident. Awful way to end a fight. Jack is devastated.

"Thanks to everyone for all the love and support. To all the haters go F**k yourselves. See you all soon. X"
