Tom Aspinall brings up sordid past of Jon Jones after vulgar comment took their beef to the next level
Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones have started aiming low with their online insults.
The interim heavyweight champion has been trying to goad Jones, who owns the proper UFC belt, into a unification fight ever since knocking out Curtis Blaydes last month.
However, the greatest fighter in MMA history isn’t interested in the matchup.
‘Bones’ is currently booked to face Stipe Miocic in November and has suggested after that fight he may retire rather than face Aspinall.
In a recent interview with , the English fan favourite gave his interviewer the exact answer he was looking for when asked who is ‘the champion of fight dodging?’
Aspinall replied: “Fight dodging? That would have to be Jon Jones, wouldn’t it?

“We know he’s trying to fight ‘Old Man Stipe’. Well, he’s going to fight Stipe.
“He’s the fight dodger around here.”
Jones stumbled across the viral clip and left an extremely crude comment, which referenced his great achievements at light heavyweight before moving up a division in 2023.
“This dude literally has my large black c*** in his mouth every week,” he wrote.
“I’m flattered. I absolutely guarantee he will not win more world championships than me. That’s truly all that matters at the end of the day.
“There’s been many champions, no one like me. I sleep good at night.”
Aspinall recognised his rival’s achievements in the reply, but he insisted there’s an asterisk on everything Jones has accomplished due to his history of failing drug tests.
He hit back: “Jon’s right, he’s won so many more world championships than me………..while using PED’s [Performance Enhancing Drugs].”
In 2016, Jones was pulled from a UFC 200 main event clash with Daniel Cormier after failing a pre-fight drug test for two banned substances – clomiphene and letrozole.
The American was hit with a one-year ban. After he had served it, Jones knocked out Cormier to reclaim his light heavyweight belt – but the result was ultimately overturned to a no-contest.
Three weeks after the biggest win of his career, Jones was flagged for the anabolic steroid turinabol, which could’ve led to him getting a four-year ban from the sport.
Jones always maintained his innocence and claimed that he was the victim of a contaminated supplement before being handed a reduced 18-month ban after providing "substantial assistance" to the UFC’s drug testing agency.
Trace amounts of turinabol were found in his system ahead of his return bout against Alexander Gustafsson and resulted in their fight being moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.
Jones is celebrated for his achievements in MMA, but there’ll always be someone like Aspinall pointing out his drug-testing history when his GOAT status is brought up.
