‘Like a shark bite’ – Fans left sickened by horrific cut on UFC London undercard

Chris Padilla suffered a horror cut during his UFC London undercard bout with Jai Herbert on Saturday night.

The Californian lightweight got his hand raised via split decision in a low-output affair, although he battled through some late adversity when his left eyebrow was ripped open by an elbow.

As soon as the shot landed, blood began to leak down Padilla's face and painted his chest red - much to the horror of UFC fans.

Reacting to the deep wound, one supporter wrote: "Looks like a shark bite."

Another tweeted: "Definitely going to have a nice little scar from that."

A third posted: "Brutal! On the bright side, he won."

A fourth commented: "Damn, that cut is nasty! Congrats on the W though."

Meanwhile, somebody else added: "Worst cut I've seen in a while."

Luckily, Padilla saw out the contest to the final bell to pull off the upset on away soil.

Many pundits felt Herbert should have been given the nod, although, in truth, neither man did much of note over the three rounds.

His first four fights with MMA's premier promotion produced fireworks and all ended in finishes.

In his fourth outing back in 2022, he met future UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria in an absolute barn burner.

Herbert dropped Topuria with a massive head kick in the opening round but the Spaniard miraculously survived by holding onto the Birmingham puncher for dear life.

In the second round, with his witts now about him, Topuria flattened Herbert with a dynamite right hand in a stunning comeback.

It remains the most trouble Topuria has been in during his unblemished 16-0 career.

And it is still his only appearance at lightweight.

That is expected to change soon though, with Topuria recently vacating his featherweight strap to move up to 155lbs.
