Saquon Barkley: 'I came to Philly for games like this'
The Eagles are heading back to the Super Bowl after a dominant 55-23 win against the Commanders in the NFC Championship game.
Saquon Barkley was unplayable once again, starting the game in trademark fashion by ripping off a 60-yard touchdown run on the Eagles' first play from scrimmage.
He finished with three rushing TDs on what turned into a historic game for Philly.
The Eagles ran to a Super Bowl-era postseason record seven rushing touchdowns.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts ran for three of his own to add to Barkley's haul, while Will Shipley scored late on.
The Eagles totaled 229 net rushing yards, and put a conference title record 55 points on the scoreboard.
"That's why I came here," Barkley said post-game.
"I came to Philly to be part of games like this. Nothing better than a game where you can advance to the Super Bowl. Super excited about that."
Josh Allen heartbroken as Bills fall short again
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was visibly emotional after another AFC Championship game loss to the Chiefs.
Kansas City reached their third straight Super Bowl with a 32-29 win, and with it, Buffalo fell to 0-4 in recent playoff games against their arch-nemeses.
"It's just not fun, but to be the champs, you've got to beat the champs, and we didn't do that tonight," Allen said post-game.
"You can either get it done, or you can't. And we didn't get it done."
While Allen and the Bills came up short against Mahomes and the Chiefs again, the QB insisted he is still proud of his teammates for their efforts this season.
"I've got so much pride in our guys, showing up each and every day, working as hard as they can," he said.
"Love these guys."
Travis Kelce eyes history as Chiefs keep three-peat dreams alive
The Kansas City Chiefs are once again conference champions and heading back to the Super Bowl.
While that has become a common theme in recent years, this time, they have a chance to make history.
As winners of the last two Super Bowls, Kansas City have a chance to become the first team to three-peat.
The opportunity is not lost on veteran tight end Travis Kelce, who is looking forward to what's to come in New Orleans.
"It's a new feeling right now, but I'm just excited," he said Sunday, after beating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game.
"I'm happy for the guys that are doing this for the first time, trying to make it everything for them.
"But I know there's bigger fish to fry and that's the Philadelphia Eagles down there in New Orleans."
The last opponent standing between the Chiefs and a three-peat is the same one they beat to start this run.
Philadelphia is back in the Super Bowl beating the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game, and will be out for revenge after losing Super Bowl LVII to the Chiefs in heartbreaking fashion two seasons ago.
"We know they're gonna have a sour taste in their mouth from the last time we played them in the Super Bowl," Kelce said.
"That being said, we gotta go to work. We gotta go to work and make sure we're ready to handle it."
The scene is set
So now we know.
New Orleans. The Superdome. February 9.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles. For the second time in three years.
No Kelce Bowl this time, Jason retired in the offseason. Travis hasn't yet, but he'll join Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid in chasing another ring.
The threepeat and a fourth Super Bowl in six years for the NFL's dominant dynasty.
Heartbreak for the Bills
It's another one score game victory for the Chiefs - their 12th this season and 17th in succession, NFL records both.
The Bills came close, again, but ultimately in the big moments - on offense and defense - the Chiefs made the plays that mattered.
A 32-29 win and Mahomes is now 4-0 over Josh Allen in the playoffs, and the Bills wait for a first ever Super Bowl goes on.
That will do it
The Chiefs keep their cool - of course they do.
Mahomes finds Samaje Perine for the first time on the night, the running back goes underneath and gets the first down.
They will allow them to run down the clock, the fireworks go off and the Chiefs are victorious - they are going back to the Super Bowl.
This time, there is unprecedented history on the line, a three-peat - or a 'Chiefs-peat' as Jim Nantz has just called it.
Game on the line
The Chiefs defense stands firm as the Bills can only muster 17 yards on the drive and as the clocks ticks down to the two-minute warning, the Bills have a 4th and 5.
And a decision to make. Buffalo go for it, and the Chiefs blitz Allen who is all over the place and has to throw one up, somehow Kincaid almost gets there, but he can't make the catch.
Replays show that a full stretch Kincaid had the ball but somehow is squeezed through his grasp. The Chiefs will take over on downs. And they have a lead.
Butker boots the Chiefs back in front
In a game that has been back and forth, the Bills might well settle for this - a Chiefs field goal from 37 yards.
Huge play from Dion Dawkins blows up a threatening looking drive in the redzone, and in the end it's a chip shot that puts the Chiefs 32-29 in front.
All square
Back come the Bills and Allen - a first catch of the night from Curtis Samuel is good for a four-yard connection with Allen.
9 plays, 70 yards, 3mins 59secs.
Over to you Patrick Mahomes, with just over 6 minutes remaining. Bills 29-29 Chiefs
Huge moments
The Chiefs get the benefit of the doubt on a very, very, very tight call as the Bills are finally stopped on 4th and short - their own version of the tush push has been on fire.
Kansas City take the ball down the field, led by Mahomes, and in five plays they are in the endzone, courtesy of Mahomes and his second rushing touchdown of the season.
The superstar QB then finds Justin Watson for the 2-pt conversion and the Chiefs have a seven-point lead. Bills 22-29 Chiefs
This. Is. Playoff. Football.
Bills hit the front
Reminder, Josh Allen has never beaten Mahomes and the Chiefs in the post season - but he does have four regular season wins.
And now the Bills are in front. A run heavy drive for the Bills, who twice go for it on fourth down, ends with a Buffalo touchdown as Allen gets it off to James Cook for a spinning, twisting touchdown.
Bills 22-21 Chiefs
Look away Giants fans
The Eagles are already on the way to New Orleans, and Saquon Barkley is the man taking them there.
Another historic day at the office for the running back, who ran in for three touchdowns.
A reminder that owner John Mara, might have an even tougher time sleeping - a subject Saquon has not been shy to keep in the spotlight.
Big finish for the Bills
We said the Bills were motoring, and a huge heave from Josh Allen finds Mack Hollins for a 34 yard touchdown, just when they needed it most.
What a catch from Hollins. 73 yards in 7 plays for Allen who shows what he is all about.
A penalty in the aftermatch means the Bills decide not to take the one point, and try for two but the Chiefs stand firm to stop Allen sneaking over.
A five-point game, Chiefs lead 21-16. Game On.
Chiefs on top
That early turnover is in the rear view mirror for Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and Co.
It's 14 unanswered points since James Cook ran in the Bills only touchdown of the game.
The Chiefs lead 21-10 entering the final minute of the half, and they will get the ball to start the second half - but the Bills are motoring....
Chiefs cough up the rock
The Kansas City Chiefs had not turned the ball over since November.
This is not a good time to start allowing mistakes to creep into your game.
Magic Johnson 'so mad' after Commanders blown out of playoffs
Magic Johnson is a fast tweeter.
He didn't hold back on Sunday after the Washington Commanders were blown out of the NFC Championship 55-23 by the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I hate losing so I’m mad that my Commanders lost," Johnson, a part-owner, tweeted.
"But congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles for advancing to the Super Bowl.
"My Commanders hurt our chances of winning the game today with 3 fumbles and too many penalties.
"I want to thank all the Commanders plays, coaching staff, fans, and my great Commanders partners on a very good season!"
Johnson ended his tweet with an uplifting look at Washington's future.
"The are back!" he said.
Eagles back in the Super Bowl on a huge numbers night
The Eagles broke 50 and Saquon Barkley ran all over Washington.
On a night when Jayden Daniels impressed as a rookie quarterback, Philadelphia was simply too powerful in its home stadium.
The Eagles won the NFC Championship 55-23 over the Washington Commanders to return to the Super Bowl.
Jalen Hurts and Barkley will play the winner of the Buffalo Bills-Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on February 9 at the Superdome in New Orleans.
"It's amazing. Super Bowl," said Barkley, who used Stephen Curry's night-night celebration to celebrate.
Philly will play in its fifth Super Bowl and return to the big game for the second time in three years.
The Eagles won it all in 2017 with Nick Foles and the Philly Special.
The 55 points that Philadelphia scored on Sunday was the most in a playoff game since 2000.
It was also the most ever scored in NFL history in a conference championship game, surpassing the 49 points scored by Carolina in 2015.
Saquon Barkley scores third TD as Eagles run up score
The Philadelphia Eagles are on the verge of returning to the Super Bowl.
While Jayden Daniels has been impressive, Saquon Barkley has almost been impossible to stop.
He recorded his third touchdown in the NFC Championship to give Philly a commanding 48-23 lead.
With 7:58 to go, Barkley had 15 rushes for 118 yards.
"A giant mistake to let him go," Tom Brady said.
Commanders fumble again
Austin Ekeler has years of experience but he has cost his team there.
He doesn't secure the ball while getting up from taking a low catch and a promising drive is over.
That's three turnovers.
Commanders 23-34 Eagles
Whatever the final score, Jayden Daniels has lived up the the hype tonight.
He jukes two defenders with a single move to run in untouched and bring his team within two scores.
Commanders 15-34 Eagles
Jalen Hurts has his second rushing score.
This could be over soon if Washington can't find an answer on defense.

Daniels breaks rookie record
Jayden Daniels is playing in the biggest game of his career.
And despite trailing, he has not looked like succumbing to the pressure.
His first-half touchdown saw him break the rookie record for playoff passing touchdowns with five.
He may need a few more if Washington is going to make the Super Bowl.
Commanders 15-27 Eagles
Washington goes down the field to set up a field goal try.
The Eagles are in Command at halftime but anything can happen in the playoffs.

A.J. Brown gets in on the act.
Washington needs to find some answers in the locker room.
