Geno Smith's trade to the Las Vegas Raiders is expected to set the NFL's quarterback carousel in motion.

The veteran signal caller will reunite with Pete Carroll in Sin City, rejoining the head coach he worked with for four years during his time with the Seattle Seahawks.

Smith is entering the final year of his three-year, $75million contract signed back in 2023, and was in talks with Seattle over an extension.

However, the two parties couldn't come to an agreement, and the quarterback is now heading to Las Vegas.

Not only is Smith's trade to the Raiders rather unexpected, given the franchise were targeting Matthew Stafford just last week, but it also has major implications across the league.

As Rapoport has mentioned, Darnold's future is certainly intriguing.

He is coming off a career year that featured 4,319 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and a 102.5 rating.

With free agency opening next week, Darnold is inching closer toward becoming available to the highest bidder.

Minnesota chose not to place the franchise tag on him, suggesting there wasn't much of a market for the QB.

But with the Seahawks trading away their starter in Smith, Darnold's situation could heat up.

The vacancy in Seattle is seen as a potential landing spot, with multiple reports suggesting Darnold could be on his way to the Pacific Northwest.
