Raw Results 11/7 – Vince McMahon chooses his leaders for Raw and SmackDown

On a barmy night in Detroit the future of Raw and SmackDown was made a little clearer, The New Day visited the Wyatt compound and things got real between the companies top two ahead of next week’s huge title bout.

Vince McMahon made his return to Raw and we now know who will be controlling both Raw and SmackDown after next week’s draft, well sort of. Vinnie Mac chose the closing segment to drop his announcement, joining ‘the fruit of his loins’ Stephanie and Shane McMahon in the ring and questioned where their ruthless aggression had been over the past few weeks. The McMahon siblings then each stated their case to be ‘commissioner’ of SmackDown with Shane using the Motor City crowd to try and gain some advantage. The Chairman of the Board then revealed his decision that it will be Shane who will be commissioner of the new SmackDown live and Stephanie in sole charge of Monday Night Raw, with Vince wanting to see some real competition between the two shows as he looks for the right person to inherit the ‘kings to the kingdom’. The catch however, is that both Shane and Stephanie are able to appoint their own General Manager which will be announced on next week’s Raw.

With that Vince left the ring to leave his siblings to fight it out, with Stephanie telling Shane she’s going to make him wish he was never born a McMahon or, for that matter, even born and then slapped her brother round the cheek. Shane replied by giving his younger sister a peck on the cheek before Step left, almost tripping down the steps much to the crowd's and Shane’s amusement as the show went off air.

Next week’s already packed show got even bigger thanks to the outcome of a verbal duel between Seth Rollins and WWE Champion Dean Ambrose. Rollins had earlier in the night got permission to show some revealing footage of Roman Reigns in a new segment called ‘The Rollins Report’. Which showed a selection of cut clips from Reigns interviews, intertwined with Rollins own questions on his suspension and role in the triple-threat at Battleground. Rollins then continued to demand his own one-on-one title match, which brought out the Champion and the pair had the most serious and heated verbal exchange we’ve seen thus far. Seth questioned Ambrose’s motives and called his reign a joke, while we finally saw some fire from Dean as he told his challenger how he’s been the backbone of this company for far too long and deserves his moment to have fun as WWE Champion. This led to Ambrose granting Rollins his title match, which is set for next week’s Raw much to the disappointment of the Joe Louis crowd.

Far away from the action in the arena came the early-awaited New Day visit to the Wyatt compound, in what was one the most bizarre segments in Raw history. The two trios battled in swampy field, lit only by car headlights, with backing music and camera work akin to a Jeepers Creepers-like horror film. Amid the battle there was body-slams into pools of mud, maneuvers into battered car windscreens and an array of weapons used from tires and clubs to barrels and bats. In the end The New Day scarpered when a collective of Bray’s minions appeared between the cars in sheep marks holding lanterns.

Back in the arena, the hottest rivalry in WWE continued to bubble when Kevin Owens demanded Sami Zayn was removed from commentary for his match against Cesaro. Referees had to escort Zayn away, not before a scuffle ensured on stage between the two bitter rivals. Owens then proceeded to beat the Swiss Superman in the standout match of the night, using a new swinging neck-breaker finisher to get the pinfall. In the post match celebrations, Zayn appeared again jumping from the crowd to get at Owens, throwing him back in the ring to receive an extra long Cesaro swing from his opponent.

The Club were in gloating mood ahead their match with Enzo and Cass, believing John Cena wasn’t at Raw due to hosting an event in LA. After some verbal sparring with their opponents the match broke down when AJ Styles interfered. However, Cena shocked the trio by somehow making it to the event to help his Battleground team-mates clear the ring of Styles, Gallows and Anderson.

Elsewhere the show opened with a Battle Royal to determine the number one contender to Miz’s Intercontinental title, which Darren Young won, with Bob Backlund at his side and will face the champion at Battleground. Sasha Banks defeated Dana Brooke only for Charlotte to declare it a lucky win and challenge her to repeat the feat on SmackDown and Sheamus defeated Zack Ryder before he was attacked by US Champion Rusev ahead their expected title match at Battleground.
